Interim Communication Coordinator (Contract Position)

Organization: Big Creek Mountain Communities Alliance (BCMCA)
Contract Term: June – October 2026 (Interim Coverage)
Estimated Hours: 4 – 5 hours per week (Depending on Scope)
Location: Hybrid Remote with familiarity with Eastern Shasta County communities. 

About BCMCA

Big Creek Mountain Communities Alliance is a collaborative partnership of local organizations working to strengthen rural communities in Eastern Shasta County through economic development, workforce opportunities, education partnerships, and community engagement.

Position Overview

BCMCA is seeking a temporary contractor to support communications, coordination, and basic operational systems for interim coverage. The role focuses on keeping key communication channels active, supporting partner coordination, and maintaining organizational documents and systems.

This role helps ensure that our Communities Alliance initiatives remain visible and coordinated while leadership and partner organizations continue advancing projects across the region.

Core Responsibilities

  1. Communications Management
  • Draft and publish the monthly Big Creek Mountain Communities Alliance newsletter
  • Manage Social Media promoting community events, initiatives, & partner programs
  • Update and maintain the BCMCA website (WordPress) with partner announcements, events, volunteer or job opportunities, and the monthly newsletter
  • Coordinate internal communications with partner organizations when needed
  1. Partner Coordination
  • Facilitate the weekly BCMCA Partner Roundtable & monthly Board Meeting
  • Prepare simple meeting agendas and capture action notes
  • Support partner communication and follow-up between meetings
  1. Document & Systems Management
  • Maintain organization of the BCMCA Google Drive
  • Upload and organize meeting notes, partner resources, and program documents
  • Maintain basic tracking of initiatives and shared resources
  1. Project Support

Provide light administrative or coordination support for ongoing initiatives such as:

  • Workforce & Economic Development Programs
  • Community Events
  • Regional Partnership Initiatives
  • Grant-related Communications

Deliverables

Typical monthly deliverables may include:

  • 1 newsletter
  • 4 social media posts
  • Weekly partner roundtable coordination
  • Website updates as needed
  • Organized document management

Preferred Skills

  • Strong written and interpersonal communication
  • Experience with MailChimp, WordPress, and Google Workspace
  • Experience with Canva content creation and social media management
  • Familiarity with rural community development initiatives
  • Ability to coordinate across multiple partner organizations
  • Self-directed contractor comfortable working remotely

Compensation

Compensation structure to be determined based on scope and contractor experience.
