About Us

The Big Creek Mountain Communities Alliance was born from a shared desire to uplift our region through collaboration, opportunity, and connection. In 2024, Hill Country Community Clinic identified a grant opportunity aimed at helping rural communities work together to create good jobs and address climate change. Hill Country Community Clinic secured the grant funding to support local organizations that serve the people and places we call home.

With support from this grant, six anchor organizations — Mountain Union Elementary School District, Mountain Community Center, Big Bend Community Center, Big Bend Community Land Trust, KKRN 88.5 FM Community Radio, and California Heritage YouthBuild Academy (CHYBA) — joined forces to build capacity, strengthen their missions, and develop tools to better connect our communities.

The Alliance has grown into a dynamic network focused on shared priorities, including expanding opportunities for youth, improving communication across the region, and avoiding those classic double-booked community events. Our name reflects our values: honoring each small mountain community while working as one.

We believe in the power of rural creativity, collaboration, and shared purpose. We’re here to connect, support, and grow—together.

Our Partners

Hill Country Community Clinic

With kindness, Hill Country Community Clinic works in partnership with our patients and community, providing to everyone the health care services, education and support needed to live whole, healthy and satisfying lives.

We opened our doors in Round Mountain on March 5, 1985, forty years ago. Started by a small group of friends, one of them a doctor, Hill Country provides medical, dental, mental health and substance use services to the intermountain area and beyond.

The clinic operates community programs like Circle of Friends to support people and families facing mental health and other issues as well as the Teen Program that supports teens and young adults with educational and supportive activities.

Hill Country is excited to be a part of the Big Creek Mountain Communities Alliance, working with our neighboring community organizations to make life better in our beautiful region.

Mountain Community Center

The Mountain Community Center brings energy, dedication, and a deep love for our community. While we balance full-time work and family life, we remain committed to making meaningful things happen. We believe a strong, connected community is built through shared effort, local leadership, and inclusive spaces where people can gather, create, and grow together.

We’re focused on building long-term capacity by identifying and supporting new volunteers and community leaders who can help carry our work forward. Our current needs include administrative support, facility upkeep, event planning, donation coordination, and expanding our ability to apply for grants that sustain and strengthen our programs.

At the heart of our mission is a commitment to nurturing a vibrant, welcoming space that supports community resilience, collaboration, and well-being.
